Sorry for the hiatus – What’s new for HR Philippines?
Posted by: | CommentsSorry for the hiatus – not pushing my sanity to produce quality post. Is it because of my really complicated and toxic sched? My new born baby? My new Sonnet Pitbull? Add it up because its just part of everything….
As for the latest buzz around my local area, HR Philippines is planning to hold their 3rd HR Philippines convention here in Cebu and a few HR consultants and HR pros expressed interest already to be a part of the core group to insure that the planned convention would be a success. In fact, a few days ago at the Casino Waterfront where PMAP-Cebu held their Induction of Officers for 2010, a local HR consultant approached me and asked me for a possible short meeting related to that proposed event – I think I’m the wrong person to approach to since I’m also just a member of that online HR community with no powers whatsoever vested upon me by the founder and their President. But anyway the question would be, would it not complicate PMAP Nationals plan to hold their yearly convention also here in Cebu? I guess we have to iron things out as early as now so as not to complicate things..
Well, it’s still a proposed plan but do hope it will materialize for us to promote HR Philippines here in Cebu and beyond…
When will your mobile phone campaign sucks?
Posted by: | CommentsSo when will your mobile phone campaign sucks? Simple, when the recipients get annoyed!
I admit, one has to be creative when attracting talent nowadays, but aren’t we giving our potential candidates options to unsubscribe to a few of our sourcing campaigns? Haven’t NTC laid down a few guidelines in doing mobile campaigns? Or some of us are not just keen on what’s ethical or not?
Anyway, let’s take on Northern Transcriptionworks Inc. on how annoying their recruitment mobile campaign is. Few weeks ago I started receiving this message:
“Hi! This is the HR Team of Northern Transcriptionworks Inc. We are pleased to invite you to come for an exam on Feb. 03, 2010 (wed) at 1:00pm. Office is at the 2nd Floor BPI Bldg., Mango Ave., Cebu City near Robinsons and across Sterling Bank of Asia. Kindly rbing your ID and a ballpen. Come as scheduled and on time. Please text back to confirm attendance and seat assurance. Thank you.”
Few weeks ago, I’ve been receiving this notice almost everyday but recently I’ve been receiving this twice (2) a day already. Take note, this notice/message is equivalent to three (3) messages.
Now, what makes this message so annoying aside from receiving it twice (2) a day? They simply don’t mind if you’re annoyed or not!
And what have I done for nth time to get rid of this message? I’ve been replying to their messages and have asked them to remove me from their list but to no avail. I guess the HR guy behind this campaign just don’t damn care if you’re annoyed or not since what they’re up to is to get the word out.
Now, when will your mobile phone campaign sucks? you know the answer. So please HR pros, be aware of the boundaries. NTC has laid out the guidelines already i.e. to give us subscribers option to bail out but I guess you never cared and listen.
What happens when you don’t walk the talk?
Posted by: | CommentsAccording to reports, “A former military dog handler who’d worked at PetSmart for 18 months — didn’t want his 3-year-old Belgian Malinois, Gizmo, to be home alone all day and all night. So he put Gizmo in the store’s doggie day care facility” – MSNBC
Now, what happens two weeks later? They fired Eric Favetta for “theft of service.” Ouch!
You can actually read the complete news here.
If you’re to look at PetSmart’s motto – “We love to see healthy, happy pets”, seems appealing right? But apparently the promise doesn’t apply to pets belonging to employees. I can’t seem to bargain my APBT “Duke” for this kind of Company – though he has bitten someone just a few days ago.
On the other hand, is consistency not part of your BRAND building? Now, what happens when you don’t walk the talk?
“PetSmart eventually offered Favetta his job back and a transfer to another store.”
Now that’s stupidity! Why? Because PetSmart spokeswoman Jessica White defended the company’s decision, saying the doggie daycare service is a huge part of PetSmart’s business and yet they’ve offered him his job back….
