Montauk Monster a viral marketing campaign? The photographed remains of a mysterious “creature” called “Montauk Mosnter” washed up on a Long Island beach near New York has led to a frenzy of online speculation. Is it really a marketing campaign?
Here’s one comment from a curious Gawker, “f it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, odds are it’s a duck. And if it looks like a decomposing dead dog and washes up on a beach like a decomposing dead dog, odds are it’s a decomposing dead dog.
This isn’t just about the skull, we’re just focusing on that to settle the beak arguments. Everything in the photo is consistent with it being a dead dog. Why would someone fake, photoshop, or stage a photo of a decomposed dead dog? How is that anywhere near as plausible as a photo of a decomposing dog being just that?
I know everyone is completely jaded by how consistently this site exposes viral marketing but step back from that a second and logically think about this.”
So what’s your pick?
