Massachusetts Governor a “Big Loser”. ‘Patrick is the big loser here in the sense that politically he really needed a victory,’ said Thomas Whalen, a professor of social science at Boston University, in a piece for the Christian Science Monitor newspaper. This whole thing occurred after Massachusetts House of Representatives rejected the Governor’s proposal of the construction of three resort casinos in the state, which would have also criminalized online gambling, by a vote of 108 to 46.
Moreover, despite the defeat, Governor Patrick is continuing with a study into his now defunct plan that could cost taxpayers $189,000.
